Hyman Cutler of Stony Run Apartments, Kingston died Thursday morning at Kingston Hospital. He was 94.
He was born in Warshilovker, Russia on September 13, 1911 a son of the late Morris and Lillian Gobarty Cutler. Mr. Cutler immigrated to this country in 1922 and settled in Brooklyn.
A graduate of Brooklyn College, he received a Masters degree from Columbia University in Math Education.
He married Rose Baron on March 30, 1941.
Mr. Cutler served in the US Army during WW II as a 1st Lieutenant. He was assigned as Courier Officer to Headquarters Antilles Department, San Juan, Puerto Rico. As Courier Officer he was responsible for transmission of secret and cryptographical material.
For many years Mr. Cutler was a supervisor for the US Post Office in Long Island City, New York City. He retired in 1974.
A Kingston resident since 1981, Mr. Cutler was an active member at Congregation Ahavath Israel. He chanted from the Torah at Sabbath and Holy Day services for the Congregation.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years are one daughter Carol Aaronson and her husband Norman of Woodstock, one son Steven and his wife Cindy of Denver, Colorado; four grandchildren Lauren and Emily Aaronson, Michelle and Michael Cutler; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother Israel and a sister Hannah.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday at 1:00 PM at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. Rabbi Tamar Crystal will officiate. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery.
