Howard R. Nickerson, 91, of Kingston, passed away on Thursday May 24, 2012 at The Kingston Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 10, 1921 in Kingston to the late William and Julia (Masten) Nickerson. He was married to Winifred (Wood) Nickerson, they wed on March 30th 1940. Winifred passed away on February, 3rd 2009. Howard was a Kingston High School graduate, Class of 1939. He later worked for Callanan's and was a part owner of Browns Construction Company before working as a foreman for the City of Kingston DPW. He was a sixty year member of The Rondout Lodge #343 F & AM. Howard enjoyed wood working, crafts, playing his guitar and in his younger years he enjoyed camping and fishing with his family.
He is survived by his children, Roger W. Nickerson of Kingston, Margaret "Peggy" and her husband Frank Jankowski Sr. of Kingston and Linda and her husband Richard Frasch of Kingston, 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where friends may call on Tuesday from 4 to 7pm. The service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Lloyd Cemetery, Highland.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ten Broeck Commons Activity Fund, 1 Commons Dr., Lake Katrine, NY 12449.
