Howard L. Fox, 94, of Kingston, NY died Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at HealthAlliance Hospital Broadway Campus. Born in Bloomingburg, NY July 30, 1920. He was a son of the late John & Bertha Collard Fox.
Howard graduated from Middletown High School Middletown, New York in 1937. In 1943, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business. He served as a flight radar observer during WW II in the US Army Air Corp as a 1st Lieutenant. As a realtor he owned & operated Howard L Fox, Inc., with his wife Nancy on Clinton Ave., Kingston NY. He specialized in commercial real estate and was a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) for the sale and lease of commercial properties.
He was very active in the community and served on the Kingston City School Board for 5 years. He belonged to the Ulster County Chamber of Commerce, Ulster County Board of Realtors, Kingston Kiwanis (past president), Kingston Council #275 Knights of Columbus, longtime member of the Kingston YMCA. He was a daily communicant of St Joseph's Church, Kingston.
He was named Realtor of the Year in 1973 and received the Kiwanis Club "Robert R Connelly medal for bravery", in 1976.
Howard is survived by three daughters, Eileen Hardesty and her husband John of Irvine Ca, Bernice Morrow and her husband John, of Lake Katrine NY, Evelyn Hopp and her husband Ed, of West Hurley NY, A daughter Jean Marie Fox predeceased him in 1973.
A sister, Hazel White , sister in law Marie Prout Smith, six grandchildren, Jason Morrow and his fiance Alayna Kramer, Robert Morrow and his wife Katie, Lenore Morrow Mallett and her husband Marc Mallett, Matthew Hopp, Beth Hopp and Elizabeth Hardesty, four great grandchildren, Paul John Morrow, Matthew Ryan Morrow, Eloise Fox Mallett, Langley Anne Mallett. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Howard was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Nancy Lachat Fox, whom he married on December 4, 1943 and who passed in 2008, two brothers, Earl Fox, Don Fox, and three sisters, Muriel Wendland, Mabel Hawkins and Beatrice Puls.
Howard will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 1-3 PM.
The funeral procession will form on Monday from the funeral home at 9:00 AM.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph Church.
Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
