Herman Lurie, of Albany, died December 23, 2006 at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was 90.
He was born in Kingston, NY on January 1, 1916, a son of the late Samuel and Rachel Kaminsky Lurie. He served in US Army from 1942 – 1945, during WW II in the European Theater of Operation.
In 1948 he returned to Kingston and continued a 40 year career with the NYS Department of Labor, Unemployment office as a clerk. In 1961 he moved to Albany where he worked as a claims examiner and then senior manager. He retired, after his wife’s death, in 1978.
His wife Odesse Ogul Lurie died in 1978. Mr. Lurie was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
Surviving are three daughters Rhoda Shaw and her husband Harvey of Nashua, NH, Susan Lurie of Houston, TX, and Nancy Blanda and her husband Tom of Rochester; a very special friend Eleanor Arnold; three grandchildren Deborah Shaw and her husband Paul Meltzer, Andrew and Heather Blanda; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
