Herman "Charlie" Kane

Herman “Charlie” Kane, 74, of Kingston, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at home. He was born on September 4, 1949, in Ellenville, NY, son of the late Herman and Elizabeth (Benjamin) George. 

He served in the US Navy during Vietnam, as a Nuclear Welder. Charlie was married to his loving wife of 38 years, Karen (Tholin) Kane. They wed at the Plattekill Reformed Church in Mt. Marion in 1985. He was a graduate of Rondout Valley High School, Class of 1968, and later graduated from UMass Amherst with a degree in Turf Management. He worked as a golf course superintendent at several local courses. He was a board member of the United Way and enjoyed golf, fishing, and camping.

Charlie is survived by his wife Karen Kane, his children, Stacy (Ronald) Cardis, Krista Fuller, Jonathan Kane, Benjamin (Alexandra) Kane, his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Emily Cardis, and MacKenzey Fuller, his siblings, Andy (Debbie) Kane, Mary (John) Durcan, Barbara (Bob) Gaydos, his sister-in-law, Nancy George, as well as many nieces, nephews, and other dear family members. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Larry George.

Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Thursday, April 11, 2024, from 3pm to 6pm with the funeral service taking place at 6pm. A private graveside service will take place at the Ulster County Veterans Cemetery at New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
