Herbert J. Soberman

Herbert J. Soberman of Third St., Wallkill died Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh. He was born in the Bronx, a son of the late Benjamin and Gussie Zellinger Soberman. Mr. Soberman served in U.S. Army during WW II in the Pacific Theater. He retired as a pool salesman in Toms River, NJ. Surviving is his son, Glenn B. Soberman and his wife Andrea of Wallkill; his daughter, Lori Hirsch and her husband Willie of Monroe; two step-sons, Steven and Charles Spellman and a step-daughter, Nancy Prull; his sister, Frances Guard; two grandchildren, David Soberman and Evan Hirsch. His former wives, Lynn Refson and Shelly Spellman and many nieces and nephews also survive. His brother, Solomon Soberman died previously. A graveside service will be conducted Wednesday, 2:00 PM at Montrepose Cemetery in Kingston. Rabbi Jonathan Kligler will officiate.
