Herbert A. Schilling, 85, of Port Ewen, NY, passed away Friday, February 26, 2016 at home. He was born June 11, 1930 in Heidelberg, Germany to the late Peter and Barbara (Kellermann) Schilling.
After graduation from professional school, Mr. Schilling began working for the Heidelberg Printing Machine Company. He started in assembly, went onto field trouble shooting, later became Chief Engineer, and retired as Vice President of Service. He traveled the world for the company handling onsite installation and service. He retired after more than 45 years of employment and still has an affiliation with the company.
He was an avid skier, swimmer, and sailor. He has skied in many parts of the world and his sailing interests took him to Nova Scotia and Bermuda. In addition he studied for 5 years at the Woodstock School of Art. Herbert is survived by his sister Elfriede Braun, his nephew Peter, and his niece Martina, all of Germany. He is predeceased by one sister and two brothers.
