Henry ''Hank'' T. McCall, 78, of Port Ewen, NY, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Kingston Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. McCall had been a truck driver for US Trucking of Secaucus, NJ for 25 years and then work for the Board of Health of Bayonne, NJ.
He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the US Army as a medic in Germany. Mr. McCall was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception RC Church and Presentation RC Church. He was a member of the Town of Esopus American Legion Post # 1298, the Korean War Veterans of Bayonne and Jersey City, and the Knights of Columbus of Bayonne, Jersey City and Kingston. He had served as Vice Commander of the Korean War Veterans of Bayonne. He was a very active volunteer at the Benedictine Hospital, having worked in the gift shop and visiting patients.
He was an avid baseball player, in the 1950's having a tryout for the Brooklyn Dodger, as a pitcher. For many years he played in the NJ fast pitch baseball leagues. His favorite team was the Brooklyn Dodgers. His biggest enjoyment in his later years was playing with his grandchildren.
He was born November 6, 1932 in Hoboken, NJ, and is survived by his wife Angela McCall, his daughter Theresa McCall, step daughters Regina Heffernan and her husband William, Rose Fabiano and her husband Anthony, and a step son Ralph Bernabei and his wife Rachelle, seven grandchildren, a sister Catherine Thorey, several nieces and nephews, he was predeceased by a son Joseph McCall.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service,216 Broadway, Port Ewen. Friends may call on Friday from 3 - 7 pm and on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30a.m. The procession will form on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and proceed to Presentation R.C. Church where at 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated. Burial in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston, NY.
Knights of Columbus Kingston Council #275, a service will be held at 6:30pm at the funeral home.
Town of Esopus American Legion Post # 1298, a service will be held at 6:45pm at the funeral home.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Benedictine Hospital Health Foundation, 105 Mary's Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401
