Henry P. Jacobs, DDS (also known as Dr. J.), 77, of Boynton Beach, FL, formerly of Kingston, died Tuesday, August 25, 2015.
Born in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Larry & Sylvia Jacobs. Henry was a graduate of Kingston High School, the University of Buffalo, and the University of Buffalo Dental School. He began his practice of dentistry in Kingston in September 1964 and practiced in Kingston for 37 years. He was a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry, a member of the American Dental Association, and a member of the Third District Dental Society. Henry was a lifelong member of Congregation Ahavath Israel and served for many years on the Board of Directors. He was a member of Wiltwyck Country Club in Kingston for over 40 years. He was a perennial contender in the Ulster County Amateur Golf Championship (Herdegen) and was known for his flashy golf outfits and competitive spirit. He was a member of Aberdeen Golf and Country Club in Boynton Beach, Florida and was a 3 time club champion.
Henry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Sheila Paige Jacobs of Boynton Beach, FL, whom he married on December 24, 1961; a daughter, Dr. Andrea Jacobs Singer and her husband Eric of North Potomac, Maryland; a son, David Jacobs and his wife Carole of Media, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Marissa, Joshua, and Jordan Singer and Alexander, Drew, and Paige Jacobs; and a sister, Arlene Harris of Las Vegas, NV.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2015 at 11:00 at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, with Cantor Devorah Gartner from Congregation Ahavath Israel officiating.
Interment will follow in Montrepose Cemetery.
