Henry M. Johnson

October 18, 1925 — January 17, 2012

Henry "Lefty" M. Johnson, Jr. 86, of East Chester St., Kingston, died Tuesday morning January 17, 2012 at Golden Hill Health Care Center, Kingston, after a lengthy illness. He was born October 18, 1925 in Kingston, the son of the late Henry M. and Edith France Johnson.




He was the husband of Charlotte M. Welch Johnson, they wed on July 8, 1950 in Kingston.




Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Kingston High School. He served in the United States Army, during World War II, in the European Theater of Operations.




He had been employed by Central Hudson Gas & Electric for 35 years, he retired as a plant operator in January of 1988.




He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of The Redeemer, Central Hudson Quarter Century Club, Kingston American Legion Post #150 and had been a member of Newburgh American Legion Post #1420




In addition to his wife he is survived by his son Stephen H. Johnson and his wife Patricia of Kingston, daughter Lynn C. Fanning and her husband Thomas of Saugerties, son Timothy E. Johnson and his wife Deidre of Grand Isle, VT, grandchildren Katherine Petrie and her husband Brian, Matthew Johnson and his wife Diana, Peter and Charlynn Caputo, great grandchildren Chase, Kellan and Quinn Petrie.




Entrusted to the care of Eric Keyser, A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave., the family will receive their friends on Thursday from 2 - 4 & 6 - 8 pm. The service will be held at 8 p.m.




The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association, 301 Manchester Road, Suite 105, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603 or American Cancer Society, 121 Executive Drive, New Windsor, 12553
