Helen Wiebe Weyr, 94, of Kingston, passed Friday afternoon, June 16, 2017 at Ten Broeck Commons, Lake Katrine, NY. She was born August 12, 1922 in West New York, NJ, the daughter of the late John and Anna Texel Wiebe. She was the wife of Walter A. Weyr; he passed on December 12th, 2013 after 66 years of marriage.
Helen was a graduate of Memorial High School, West New York and was class valedictorian, and then graduated from Trenton State Teachers College. For over 30 years Helen taught kindergarten and 2nd grade in the Ridgefield Elementary Schools, Ridgefield, NJ. She also worked at the family business Wiebe Hardware of West New York, NJ.
A fifty year resident of Palisades Park, NJ, she and her husband moved to Kingston in 2009 and resided at Mountain Valley Manor to be closer to their daughter and family. She enjoyed playing tennis, crafts, music, knitting, cooking and spending time with her family. Helen contributed her time and talent for over 20 years to the Hurley Nursery School, where her daughter Lori taught, by making Christmas and end of the year gifts for the children. She was a member of the Rainbow Girls and Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by her daughter Lori E. and her husband Robert A. Biamonte, West Hurley, grandsons Jeffrey R Biamonte, his wife Felipa and their children Julia and Ava of Hyde Park and Mark R. Biamonte, his wife Maureen and their son Owen and daughter Ashlyn of Simsbury, CT. She was predeceased by a brother Albert Wiebe
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, the family will receive their friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4 - 6 pm. The service will be at the Hurley Reformed Church on Tuesday at 9:30 am. Entombment in Fairview Mausoleum, Fairview, NJ on Tuesday 12:30 pm.
