Helen B. Haldeman

Helen B. Haldeman, 75, of Hurley, died March 23, 2013 at the HealthAlliance Broadway Campus. Born in Jersey City, NJ, Helen was the daughter of the late Vincent & Helen Berberich of North Bergen, NJ. A graduate of Fordham University and NYU, Helen held a B.S. in chemistry and M.S. in math. After graduation, Helen spent 11 years teaching in the New York City Parochial School System. Later she worked for IBM in Mahwah, NJ and met her husband Fred in programming school in Port Ewen, NY. They were married in 1970 at St. Lawrence Church and relocated to Saugerties, NY. Two years later, Fred & Helen moved to Hurley, NY. Helen worked as an accountant at St. Joseph's Church in Kingston, NY for several years, as well as Linwood Retreat Center in Rhinebeck, NY. Helen was an active member of the Hurley Heritage Society for several years, where she held the position of treasurer. Helen will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Helen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Fred Haldeman of Hurley, a daughter, Carol Ann Haldeman of Kingston, a son, Steven V. Haldeman of Hampden, MA, two sisters, Grace Berberich and Victoria Moran, both of Middletown, NJ. One grandson, Timmothy J. Haldeman also survives. Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The funeral procession will form on Wednesday from the funeral home at 8:45 am. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church at 10:00 am. Interment will follow in Hurley Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Immaculate Conception Church, 467 Delaware Ave, Kingston, NY 12401.
