Hazel Marie Utter

Hazel "Gigi" Marie McGrath Utter, 103, of Kingston, passed away March 7, 2016 surrounded by her family and loved ones. She was born September 15, 1912 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Nicholas John and Mary (Hinkey) McGrath. She was married to Francis Asbury Utter for 62 years. Francis passed away in 1994. She had worked for Orange County Community College for several years.


She enjoyed spending time in Cape Cod with her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the family pets. Right up until her passing, Gigi enjoyed outings, whether it was a celebration, going for ice cream, weekends at her daughters, or her 102 Birthday party at Keegan Ales. What may stand out most was her sharp mind, her inquisitive nature and her ability to remember everything about everybody.


She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Jane DePetrillo of Kingston, her grandchildren, Patricia Deegan and her husband Joseph of Kingston, Frances DePetrillo-Savoca and her husband Daniel Savoca of Port Ewen, her great-grandchildren, John, Olivia, and Rachel Deegan, her dear friends, Carole and William Roberts of Hurley, as well as several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and many friends. In addition to her husband and parents she is predeceased by siblings, Mary Eltz, Virginia "Gin" Strong, Alberta "Bert" Peterkin, and Nicholas John "Bud" McGrath.


Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Thursday March 17th from 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm. The funeral service will take place on Friday March 18th at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Montrepose Cemetery, Kingston.
