Hazel C. Bailey

October 1, 1922 — February 14, 2015

Hazel Post Lawless Bailey, 92, of Kingston, passed away Saturday, February 14, 2015. She was born October 1, 1922 in Kingston, to the late Clarence Post and Olive Chase Post.


Hazel graduated from Kingston High School in 1942 where she was a cheerleader and Captain of the basketball team. She later worked at Hercules Powder Company in Port Ewen for many years. Hazel was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church in Kingston where she served as a Deaconess and enjoyed singing.


She is survived by her children, Sharon (Vincent) LaFera, Michele Lawless-Leddy, Martha (John) Ollive and Robert Bailey. She was a loving grandmother to Adam, Nicholas and Leah LaFera, James and Michael Leddy, John and Liam Ollive, Kahli Bailey-Patell and Christopher Bailey. She is also survived by her sister Olive Boomhower as well as several nieces and other family members.


In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her siblings, Florence Post, Clarence, William and Joseph Post, her sister in law, Linda Post and her nephew Barry Boomhower.


Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Friday February 20th from 4 to 7pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday February 21st at 10am at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
