Harriet Salzmann 89, of Kingston, passed peacefully Monday morning February 16, 2015 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. She was born July 12, 1925 in Kingston, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred Morrissey.
She was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1942 and of Spencer's School of Business. Harriet had worked for Forst Meat Packing, Central Hudson, and then for Ulster County Department of Social Service, retiring in 1989.
She had been a very active member of the Old Dutch Reformed Church, was a member of the Women's Ministries and served as their treasurer; she had also been a member of the Junior League of Kingston.
Harriet enjoyed keeping up with current events, socializing with her friends, and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren
She was predeceased by her husband Albert Salzmann, who died August 13, 2003 and her son James Salzmann, who died November 26, 2013.
She was the mother of Richard Salzmann and his wife Nancy, Elizabeth "Betsy" Arlantico and her husband Pat. Mother in law of Susan Salzmann, grandmother of Molly and Elizabeth Salzmann, Emily Startz and her husband Thomas, 1st Lt. Patrick Arlantico, US Army, Adam, Evan, Paige and Jacob Salzmann and a great granddaughter Natalie J. Sister of Thomas Morrissey and his wife Elaine and several nieces and nephews.
The service will be at the Old Dutch Reformed Church on Wednesday at 2:00 pm. Entombment in Wiltwyck Cemetery Mausoleum. The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Golden Hill Activity Fund, 99 Golden Hill Drive, Kingston, NY 12401.
