Harriet M. 'Irish' de Illy of Van Kleeck's Lane, Town of Ulster died Saturday, November 26, 2005. She was 82.
She was born in Middletown on April 10, 1923, a daughter of the late John and Agatha Schmidt Moran. Mrs. de Illy was raised in Middletown and, prior to her marriage, worked at the Orange County Department of Social Services.
On August 6, 1944 she married Attila 'Butch' de Illy at St. Joseph's Church, Middletown.
An area resident since 1958, Mrs. de Illy worked for Ulster County Department of Social Services for several years. She volunteered at The People's Place and was a parishioner of St. Catherine Laboure Church. She was also a member of the Altar - Rosary Society at St. Catherine's.
One brother John Moran and three sisters Agnes, Marguerite and Ellen all died previously.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Attila “Butch” de Illy; seven children Victor de Illy of Town of Ulster, Colleen Neese and her husband Bruce of Syria, Gregory di Illy and his wife Melanie of Atlanta, GA, Marilyn de Illy of San Mateo, CA, Timothy de Illy of New York City, Christopher de Illy of Kingston and Gerard de Illy and his partner Chuck Harry of Novato, CA; one sister Catherine Brassell of Long Beach, CA; five grandchildren Fred DeSeino, Jonathan, Michelle, Gena and Madeleine de Illy; one great granddaughter Kaitlyn; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral will be Thursday at 9:00 AM from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Catherine Laboure Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Middletown.
