Harold J. Harrison, 92, of Kingston passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at Golden Hill Nursing & Rehab Center in Kingston, NY. He was born October 23, 1931 in Kingston to the late Harold E. and Anna M. (Stahman) Harrison.
He was married to Joyce B. (Day) Harrison; they wed on October 17, 1954, in Free Port, Long Island.
Harold was a Kingston High School graduate, class of 1950. After graduation Harold went on to serve in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 and in the Army Reserves to 1963. For many years Harold worked as a service foreman for Verizon, until his retirement in 1986.
He was an active member of St. James United Methodist Church since he was 12 years old. Over the years he served as Lay Minister and held many other offices. He was also the maintenance supervisor for the church. Harold was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America since youth. He held almost every volunteer position that exists in the Rip Van Winkle Council.
He was predeceased by his wife Joyce (Day) Harrison and his sister Florence Morris
Harold is survived by his, his daughter; Patricia (Edward) Harris of Arlington, MA, son; Michael (Patricia) Harrison of Tillson NY, daughter Nancy (Floyd) Scott of Underhill, VT and daughter Linda (Ronald) Brown of Webster, NY. He also has ten grandchildren: EJ(Catherine) Harris, Becca (Toni) Harris, Liz (Dan) Henderson, Joe Harrison, Josh (Christina) Harrison, Jason (Janet) Scott, Kristen (Courtney) Donald, Thomas Scott, Dan Brown, Katie Brown, and seven great grandchildren, also a niece and several cousins.
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston NY 12401 where family and friends may visit on Sunday October 6, 2024, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday October 7, 2024, 10:00 am at St. James United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston.
