Harold F. Smith, 93, of Lake Katrine, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Ten Broeck Commons, after a short illness. Born in Queens, he was a son of the late Frank & Ida Bailey Smith. Harold was a 1939 graduate of Kingston High School. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the US Navy on the USS Alabama. Harold was a department manager for Hercules, Inc, retiring in 1980 after 39 years of service. He was a parishioner and a charter member of St. Catherine Laboure Church. Harold enjoyed reading and woodworking. He is survived by his sister, Kathryn "Kiki" Dulin and her husband, Richard of Lake Katrine. Many nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents, Harold was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Jeannine Gue Smith, whom he married on February 12, 1950 and who passed in 2011, his son, John M. Smith, who passed in 1999, four sisters, Mary Savatgy, Emily Coffey, Helen Emmick, Ruth Errington and one brother, Alfred Smith. Harold will be reposing on Monday, January 19, 2015, at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave from 4-7 PM. The funeral procession will form on Tuesday from the funeral home at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Catherine Laboure Church. Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery. The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Catherine Laboure Church, PO Box 271, Tuytenbridge Rd., Lake Katrine, NY 12449.
