Hallie (Owens) Armstrong, 94, of Kingston, NY, passed away on May 26th after a lengthy illness. She was born May 20, 1922 in Omega, VA to the late Bismark and Osie (Comer) Owens. She was married to her loving husband, Hydrect "Monk" Armstrong in 1941. Hydrect passed away on January 15th, 1996. Hallie enjoyed gardening and often shared her vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors. She was often seen working in the yard raking leaves, mowing grass, and shoveling snow. She was a multi-task woman, indeed. Hallie was an avid fan of Trinity Broadcasting Network and her favorite programs included; The Potter's Touch (TD Jakes); Enjoying Everyday Life (Joyce Meyers); and Billy Graham Crusades (Classics). She was a life time member of the NAACP. Hallie is survived by her children; Ethel (Calvin) Jeffers, Melvina Blair, and Hydreca Watts; sister, Odell Curry, long time friend/cousin Marie Roberts, grandchildren, Robert Blair, Jr., Roderick Blair, Carol Blair and Hydrect Armstrong, III; a host of great-grandchildren; brothers/sisters in-law, John, Shirley, George, and Hobart "Hobie" Armstrong, Jr., and Catherine Clinton. Hallie was predeceased by her son, Hydrect Armstrong, Jr.; sisters, Lillie Daliot, Sarah Jackson, Eva Cowan, Estelle Ruffin; brothers, Judge and Prince Owens.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where family and friends may visit on Saturday June 4th from 10am to 11am. The service will start at 11am, with Rev. James Childs, officiating. Burial will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery, Kingston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marks AME Chapel, 72 Wurts St., Kingston, NY 12401 or Riverview Baptist Church, 240 Catherine St., Kingston, NY 12401.
