Gustav J. Schmidt

Gustav ''Gus'' J. Schmidt, 74, of Esopus, died Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was born February 2, 1937 in West Park, to the late Gustav and Hazel (Ackert) Schmidt. He was the husband of Shirley Day Schmidt.




He had attended Sacred Heart R.C. Church, was a graduate of Highland High School. Mr. Schmidt had been self employed as a carpenter for many years until his retirement. He had been a member of the West Esopus Landowners Association. He enjoyed hunting and going to yard sales.





In addition to his wife he is survived by his children Cynthia Muaau, Cheri Brown and Steve Schmidt, 10 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a sister Regina Mesik.




Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, 216 Broadway, Port Ewen. The family will receive their friends on Sunday from 2- 4 & 7 - 9. The procession will form on Monday at 10:15 a.m. and proceed to Sacred Heart R.C. Church where at 11:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial in Highland Cemetery.
