Gregory Thomas Saunders

Gregory Thomas Saunders of Saugerties, New York passed away at the Northeast Center for Rehabilition in Lake Katrine, New York, on Wednesday, September 9th after a near-lifelong battle with Juvenile Diabetes. He was born on August 31, 1956, son of the late Arthur Herbert Saunders Jr. and Mary Keefe Saunders.

Greg was born and raised in Short Hills, New Jersey and lived in Basking Ridge and Berkeley Heights before moving to Saugerties six years ago. He was a graduate of Saint Rose of Lima and Millburn Senior High School, class of 1974. He attended Montclair State College and the Printing Institute of Metropolitan New York. Prior to his disability, he was a partner at Colahan-Saunders Corporation, a commercial printing concern in Manhattan. He was an avid skier, sailor and cyclist and will be remembered for his quick wit, gregarious sense of humor, extreme generosity to all and love of dogs.

Greg is survived by his sisters Kathleen Keyser and her husband William of Lake Katrine and Patricia Golden and her husband Michael of Springfield, New Jersey; brother John Saunders of Manhattan; nieces Elizabeth Keyser of Manhattan and Alexandra Golden of Springfield; nephew Timothy Golden of Springfield. He was a nephew of Sheila Keefe of Short Hills.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ulster County SPCA, 20 Wiedy Road, Kingston, NY 12401 in memory of Greg. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful staff at the Ivy Lodge in Saugerties, New York for their loving care of Greg during his many years as a resident.
