Grace G. Kern

Grace Goetzmann Drews Kern, a former resident of Poughkeepsie, NY passed away on February 4, 2013. Her life began on June 24, 1927 in Buffalo, NY. Grace is survived by her her children, Nancy (Robert) Harding, David Drews, Brian Kern, Jeffrey Kern, and Heather (Brian) Kennedy; her five brothers, Paul (Marilyn), Philip (Cynthia), Donald (Katie), Harry (Sylvia), and Clark Goetzmann; 15 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Harry Goetzmann; her husband, Charles Drews; her daughter, Patricia Kern, and her grand-daughter, DeAnna Burrous. Grace's love and caring for others was reflected in her work as a nurse. She received her degree from the Syracuse University School of Nursing in 1948. Her program included training for service in the Cadet Nurse Corps. A celebration of Grace's life will be held in the Finger Lakes at the convenience of the family.
