Govan Mitchell Taylor, Jr., 89, of Germantown, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. He was born on October 27, 1930 in Ashland, VA, the son of the late Govan M. Taylor, Sr. and Lily M. Taylor. Govan served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a union carpenter and also was self employed as well. Locally he had worked for Colonial Roofing. He later worked as a School Crossing Guard in Largo, Florida along with his wife Eva. He was a life member of the American Legion. Govan had his pilot's license and enjoyed flying. He also enjoyed roller skating and dancing. Recently he was learning the art of wood carving.
He is survived by his wife Eva Taylor, his children, Linda Taylor-Legg and Lori Rider-Fenwick, Sharon Shultz, and William Johnson, his grandchildren, Rebekah Ancrum, William Fenwick, Benjamin Taylor, Crystal Taylor, Jessica, Satch, Rachel, Jeffery, Laura and Allyson, his sister, Brenda Fleming, his daughter in law, Janice Taylor, as well as many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sister Janice Maher and his son, Duane Mitchell Taylor
