Gordon W Kent "Great Pop" 94, of Hurley, died Saturday, February 27, 2016. He was born June 1, 1921 in Kingston, NY to the late Walter J. and Florence Kent.
Gordon was a graduate of Kingston High School class of 1940. He was briefly a DJ for WKNY. He then served as Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II from 1942 to 1946. Gordon went on to work for NY Telephone Co. For 40 years. He was a member of the Hurley Reformed Church, VFW, Masons, Order of the Amaranth and many other organizations.
Gordon is survived by his son Robert A. Kent and his wife Karen, his grandson Robert G. Kent and his husband Troy, his granddaughter Jennifer Lukaszewski and her husband Timothy, his great granddaughters Kailyn and Trista Lukaszewski; as well as his sister Crystal Dougherty and sister in law, Grace Kent and many nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Elsie A. Kent, his brothers Allen and Ronald Kent and his sister in law Elsie Kent.
Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave, Kingston, family and friends may call on Thursday March 3, from 4:00-8:00pm. Services will be held on Friday March 4, 10:00am at the Hurley Reformed Church, Hurley, NY. Burial to follow at Hurley Cemetary, Hurley, NY.
