GORDON M. ANDERSON
KINGSTON – Wednesday,  June 21st, 2023 at the age of 98. Born to parents Gustave A. Anderson and Ethel M. MacIntosh in Syracuse, NY.  Pre-deceased by his wife Margaret L. Anderson (Lyons) with 67 years of marriage and his siblings Glenn, Joseph, Wallace, and Sandra.

Survived by children Gary Anderson (Ellen), Darlene Dodd (Terry) and Mark Anderson (Laurie) and grandchildren Shawn Anderson (Katie), Brian Anderson (Kerenza), Dawn Weikel (Jeremy), Deanndra Macomber (Mike), Dorian Dodd (Gavin Pond), Tess Anderson (Souriya Vang), and Samantha Anderson (Nick Rubert). Great-grandchildren include Dominik and Jackson Anderson; Eve Weikel; Annabel, Griffin, and Kai Macomber; Lucian and Jasper Anderson-Vang.

Gordon grew up in Olivebridge, NY attending a one-room schoolhouse until attending Kingston City High School in the “big city” where he graduated. He was a decorated WW II veteran serving in Torpedo Bomber Squadron 80 aboard the carriers USS Ticonderoga and USS Hancock as well as serving during the Korean War. He retired from IBM Kingston in 1986 after 38 years of service with his last position involving corporate worldwide standards.

Gordon was a lifelong Green Bay Packers fan and loved gardening throughout his life even tending to several thriving tomato plants until his passing. His hobbies included woodworking, reading, listening to classical music, and using computers for research and game-playing.  He completed a genealogical search tracing his ancestors from Norway back to the early 1800’s. He enjoyed ocean and river cruises with his children and their spouses with the first at age 91 and that last cruise at 96.  Two weeks before he passed away, he asked “When are we going on our next cruise?”  Sadly, he is now on his final voyage.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, June 30, 1 – 5 p.m. with a short prayer service at 1:30 p.m. with Rev.
