Gloria B. Hotaling, 97, of Ormond Beach, FL, formerly of the Town of Ulster, NY, and Town of Hurley, NY, passed away very peacefully on Monday, December 9, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. She was born on August 30, 1927, in Kingston, NY, the daughter of the late Eugene and Violet (Ticefeldt) Knapp. Gloria married her loving husband, Howard Hotaling, Jr., on December 12, 1948, at the Reformed Church of the Comforter in Kingston, NY.
She was a Kingston High School Graduate, Class of 1944, and later worked as a Secretary at Bailey Middle School in Kingston for 23 years until her retirement on July 1, 1989. She was a member of the Reformed Church of The Comforter in Kingston, NY, where she taught Sunday School, was on the Women's Guild, attended Bible Study, was a member of the “Comforter Crafters,” volunteered at Vacation Bible School, and was a Deacon on Consistory. She was also a member of the Community Baptist Church in Bunnell, FL, was a Cub Scout Den Mother for 12 years, and was a member of the Town of Ulster Little League Auxiliary.
Gloria is survived by her husband, Howard Hotaling, Jr., of Ormand Beach, FL, her sons, Howard L. Hotaling and his wife Lynn Viano Hotaling of Palm Coast, FL, Steven G. Hotaling of Knoxville, TN, and Kevin G. Hotaling of Boston, MA. Her grandchildren, Todd R. Hotaling and his wife Tammy Krom Hotaling of Palm Coast, Fl, Ryan M. Hotaling and his wife Keisha Chacona Hotaling of Canton, GA, Stacy Heidi-Lynn Hotaling and her partner Caine Hymes of Hurley, NY, Kerry Poulin and her husband Eric of Kingston, NY, Kristen A. Grey and her husband Gary of Virginia Beach, VA, Adam M. and his wife Kayla Hotaling of Rhinebeck, NY, Kevin A. Hotaling of Northboro, MA, Kiley Hotaling Powell and her husband Skylar Powell of Los Angeles CA, and Matthew Hotaling of San Francisco CA. She has sixteen great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her sister-in-law, Janice Freer Hotaling. In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her siblings, Eugene Knapp Jr., Glenn Knapp, and Evelyn Nenni.
Arrangements entrusted to Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401, where family and friends may visit on Wednesday December 18, 2024 from 2pm to 4pm & 6pm to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday December 19, 2024 at 10am with burial following in Hurley Cemetery, Hurley, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Reformed Church of the Comforter, PO Box 2736, Kingston, NY 12402, Tunnel to Towers, or St. Jude's Hospital.
