Gladys A. Brown of Kingston died Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Archcare at Ferncliff. She was 89. She was born in Lomontville, a daughter of the late Thomas and Alida Broadhead Sampson. Mrs. Brown was employed as a school crossing guard for the Kingston Police Department. She served as church mother of St. Mark's AME Church where she was a long-time member. Her husband, Warren Brown Sr. died January 27, 1985. Surviving is her son, Ronald Brown and his wife Ernestine of Kingston, her daughter, Patricia Boisvert and her husband Kenneth, her daughter-in-law, Sherry Brown, her godson, Mark Brown and many other godchildren. Eleven grandchildren, twenty six great-grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Brown was a foster mother for over 35 years and is also survived by her foster children Annie Galmore, Dennis Blue, Samuel King and Denise Montague. Her son, Warren Brown Jr., two sisters, Ida May DePew and Theresa Sampson, her brother, Lansing Sampson and her loving niece Harriet Haskins all died previously. Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. Friends will be received at the New Central Baptist Church on Thursday from 11 - 1 at which time a funeral service will be conducted. Interment will follow in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
