Giuseppe Joseph Savoca of Phoenix, Arizona died January 24, 2005. He was 75.
He was born in Castiglione, Catania, Sicily, Italy on January 5, 1930, a son of the late Carmelo and Antonina Savoca.
He came to this country in 1956 and settled in Kingston, NY. He married Arlene Lyons and then moved to Phoenix, AZ.
A masonery contractor in the Phoenix area for many years, he specialized in school construction. An excellent stone craftsman, Joseph worked in luxury homes in the valley of Phoenix.
Joseph loved to take his family on trips to the ocean, mountains, camping, fishing, hunting, boating on the lakes and sand railing at the dunes. His newest hobby was woodworking.
A wonderful husband, father, brother, and uncle, he will be dearly missed.
One brother Nino Savoca and one sister Giuseppina Savoca both died previously.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 44 years, Arlene Lyons Savoca; three sons, all of Phoenix, Carmelo and his wife Lila Savoca, Nino Savoca and Mario Savoca and his fiance Carla; three daughters all of Phoenix, Tonina Savoca, Annamaria Savoca, Angela Savoca, two grandsons Joseph and Anthony Savoca; two sisters Angelina and Luciano Pagano of Hurley and Tana and Frank DeCicco of Kingston. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, Kingston on Monday, February 7, 2005 at 6:00 PM. The Rev. Rick DeLaPena will officiate.
Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery, Phoenix, AZ.
