Gerhard Jurgeleit

March 28, 1926 — January 17, 2017

Gerhard Jurgeleit, 90, of Kingston, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at HealthAlliance Hospital, Broadway Campus after being surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 28, 1926 in Germany to the late Georg and Martha Jurgeleit. Gerhard was married to the love of his life, Herta (Grasmeier) Jurgeleit. They wed on November 23, 1957.


Gerhard was highly trained as a Master Carpenter in Germany, He arrived in America in 1955, and as an expert in his field, began working in New York City. He later moved his family to Stone Ridge and worked for many years for Merritt Meridian Corporation in Fishkill retiring in 1988 after his first battle with cancer.

A very religious and deeply devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle, he instilled his love of the Lord to his family. Gerhard was a member of the Salty Seniors Group at Grace Community Church.


In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Doris (Frank) Blaha of Ulster Park, Robert Jurgeleit and his fiancée Tami Radfar of Mahwah, NJ, grandchildren, Marissa and Cassandra Blaha, and Kylie Jurgeleit, great grandchildren, Mariandra Blaha-Carney, Maygan Blaha-Carney, Marcas Blaha, his sisters, Christel Faulhaber and Hannelore Jurgeleit, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his sisters and brothers in law, Brunhilde Jurgeleit, Waltraut (Erich) Labeit, Erika (Ernst) Grunwald, and Karl Faulhaber.



Entrusted to the care of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Sunday January 22nd from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday at 12pm with burial following in St. Remy Rural Cemetery, St. Remy, NY.


In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Oncology Support Program of WMC Health HealthAlliance. Checks can be made payable to Benedictine Heath Foundation, please write "OSP in memory of Gerhard Jurgeleiet" in the memo.
