Gerard M. "Boo" McCloskey of Condie Street died Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. He was 80.
A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was born April 19, 1928, a son of the late William J. and Katherine Buchanan McCloskey. He served in the US Navy from 1946 1948 and received the WW II Victory Medal. He was a member of the Joyce Schirick Post 1386, V.F.W
On September 3, 1955 he married Bernice L. Staccio.
For many years Mr. McCloskey worked as a truck driver for Costanzi Crane & Rigging Co. He belonged to Teamsters Local #445, Newburgh.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice McCloskey; one daughter Catherine Klitzner and her husband Jeffrey of Kingston; two sons Leonard McCloskey and his wife Cheri of Glendale, AZ and Patrick McCloskey of Kingston; one brother John J. McCloskey of Kingston; Six grandchildren Kris Klitzner, Patrick, Charles, Amanda, Elizabeth and Anthony McCloskey; many nieces and nephews.
Three sisters Catherine Elizabeth McCloskey, Eleanor Cappillino, and Theresa Schrader and five brothers William J., Francis J., Robert J. "Skinner", Michael J., and Philip D. McCloskey all died previously.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A prayer service will be conducted by Fr. Burke at 3:45 p.m. Inurnment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.
