Georgia A. Elmendorf, 88, of Kingston, NY, died Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Ten Broeck Commons, Lake Katrine. She was born July 19, 1922 in Kingston. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Carlaftes) Nekos.




Mrs. Elmendorf was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1940, and was a graduate of Emma Willard Business School of Troy, NY. She was involved with and worked for the Nekos Family businesses for most of her life.




She loved to read, walk and spend time with her grandchildren. Most important to her was her family and keeping the family traditions.




Mrs. Elmendorf is survived by her daughters Leslie E. Carr and her husband John and Dale Thompson and her husband Hank, all of Kingston.




Her three grandchildren, to whom she was affectionately known as YiaYia, Nicholas and Mackenzie Celuch and Kate Thompson, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Her sister-in-law Priscilla Nekos, and her dear friend and cousin Helen Cunaveles.




She was predeceased by her brothers and sisters Peter, George, Nicholas, Louis, Bessie, Stephen Nekos, and Helen Scott.




Entrusted to the care of the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 - 7 pm. The service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the A. Carr & Son Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Stickley, officiating. Burial in Montrepose Cemetery.




The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to charity of your choice.
