George J. Bruck of Grant Street, Kingston, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Kingston Hospital. He was 86.
A native and lifelong Kingston resident, he was a son of the late John F. and Jennie A. Whittaker Bruck. A Kingston High School graduate, class of '41 he served in the US Army during WW II in the European Theatre of Operations. A Sergeant, he participated in the Normandy Campaign and in Northern France.
George married Margaret L. Guido on April 5, 1947.
He worked as an accountant for the former Cornell Steamboat Company (that was sold to) New York Trap Rock Corporation, (that was sold to) Martin Marietta Corporation, Rock Industries division. He retired as Treasurer in 1976. He then worked at Supervisor with the Catskill Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation in New Paltz. George retired from the Kingston location in 1989 as supervisor.
He was a Life Member of the Joyce Schirick Post 1386, V.F.W., and a Life Member of the Lake Katrine Rod & Gun Club.
His daughter Jane Woethmann died in 1993. Two brothers William and Clayton Bruck both died previously.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret Bruck, two grandsons Jeffrey J. and Kristopher G. Woerthmann, two great grandchildren Jenna and Andrew Woerthmann; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be conducted, at the funeral home, at 6:30 p.m. Cremation will be in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery. Private inurnment, in Wiltwyck Community Mausoleum, will privately be conducted at a later date.
