Genevieve Secreto Cacchillo

Genevieve Cacchillo of The Hills, Port Ewen died Friday, July 23, 2010 at Kingston Hospital. She was 79. She was born in Glasco, a daughter of the late Charles and Rose Petramale Secreto. A graduate of Saugerties High School, she received a B.S. Degree from SUNY Oneonta in Elementary Education. She married Michael Cacchillo on June 27, 1954. Mrs. Cacchillo began her teaching career at Emma Wygant School. In 1958 she began teaching 5th Grade at Chambers Elementary School (when the school opened.) She retired in 1993, after 39 years of service. A parishioner of St. Joseph's Church, she belonged to the Benedictine Hospital Auxiliary and was an avid bridge player. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 56 years, are three daughters Michele Funccius and her husband Hans of Kingston, Debra Cacchillo of Port Ewen and Gina Zamiskie and her husband Edward of West Caldwell, NJ; one brother Anthony "Donald" Secreto of Glasco, four grandchildren Emma and Madeline Roszko, Charles and Rebecca Zamiskie; several nieces and nephews. Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. The funeral procession will form on Monday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Interment will be in Wiltwyck Cemetery.
