Genevieve R. Delanoy, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 3, 2012 at the Thompson House in Rhinebeck. Born in Coxsackie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Florence Renz Hoagland. She graduated from Gilboa Central School in Gilboa, NY in 1938 and from Spencers Business School in Kingston. She was employed by the Central Hudson Gas & Electric Company in the public relations department. Genevieve was married to her husband, the late Robert V. Delanoy in Prattsville, NY on July 23, 1944. She was associated with her husband in a family business, Delanoy Fuel and Service as an office manager. In 1968 she was employed by Flah's & B Forman as a sales associate for 26 years. She served as a past president of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post #150, Kingston, NY. She was a member of the Marine Corps League Auxiliary, Capt William Dale O'Brien Detachment, Albany, NY. Previously a member of the Shangri-La detachment in the department of Maryland. She was also a member of the Oasis Chapter #596, Order of the Eastern Star, Prattsville and in 1993 was honored as a Fifty year member. Later named as a Honorary Life Member of the Mt Star Oasis, Chapter #237, Windham, NY She was an avid swimmer, diver and the recipient of awards for her accomplishments. Genevieve played soft ball for town teams, Grand Gorge and Prattsville, NY. She was also an excellent basketball player in high school and thereafter. Her parents Scott and Florence Hoagland were the Publishers of the Prattsville News and Printing Company. Genevieve is survived by a son, Larry C. Delanoy of Kingston, a daughter, Holly Speirs and her husband Robert of Lake Katrine, one granddaughter, Melissa Lawrence and her husband, Trevor-John of Lake Katrine, a sister in law, Marion Dayton Hoagland of Grand Gorge and Florida and a great grandson, Cooper Marley Lawrence. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Gladys Hoagland Johnson and her brother, Clifton L. Hoagland. Genevieve's family would like to thank all those at the Thompson House for their loving care, compassion and support. The funeral service and interment will be private.
