Gail Kathleen Whitaker

Gail Kathleen Whitaker, 55, of Wall Street, West Hurley, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at Kingston Hospital. She was born October 23, 1954 in Kingston, the daughter of the Mary Murphy Tremper O'Dell of Kingston and the late Robert "Stumpy" Tremper.




She was the wife of Douglas R. Whitaker; they wed on August 26, 1978.




Gail was a graduate of Kingston High School, class of 1972. She had attended the Ashokan Wesleyan Church and was co-coordinator of the church's Prayer Team; she was the co - founder with her husband of the Christian Fellowship of Kingston and Christian Fellowship Ministries. She was a 27 year committee member and one of the founders of Troop 7, Boy Scouts of America.



Gail had previously taught Sunday School at the Lomontville Assembly of God and was part of the leadership team for the Hudson Valley Crusade for Jesus.





In addition to her mother and husband she is survived by her sons David M. Whitaker and his wife Rebeca and their daughter Autumn - Rose of Cape Coral, FL., Jonathan K. Whitaker of home, her step father Kenneth O'Dell of Kingston, her brothers Steven Tremper and John "Jack" Tremper both of Raleigh, NC, her sister Diane Hasbrouck of New Paltz, several nieces and nephews.




Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, the family will receive their friends may call on Friday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9. The service will be held at Keyser's on Saturday at 1:30 pm, the Rev. Steven Biswell, officiating. Burial in Hurley Cemetery.




The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Boy Scouts of America, Rip Van Winkle Council, 75 Pine St., Kingston, NY 12401
