Fredine B. Cooke, 79, of Lomontville, died Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Kingston Hospital.
Born in Stanfordville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Fred R. & Frances Becker Brooks. Married to the late Robert Cooke, Fredine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and a friend to all who knew her. Known as "Deanie" to many, she loved to cook and bake, but most of all she had an enduring love for her family and friends. She tended to them continually throughout her life with love, kindness and compassion.
Fredine met her husband Bob at Edgewater Farm in Lomontville when they were both very young. Her aunt and uncle ran the farm as a family resort and Bob began vacationing there with his parents. Upon his return from WWII their relationship grew and they were married in 1952 in Cooperstown, NY. Fredine worked locally for many years at D-D's Highway Pharmacy in Stone Ridge, NY, but her proudest accomplishment was taking care of her husband, children and grandchildren. Fredine radiated warmth toward anyone she could engage with a kind word, and for this she will always be remembered.
She is survived by three children, Robert J. Cooke and his wife Laura of Mt. Joy, PA, Denise M. Cooke of Lomontville and Gerard T. Cooke and his wife Helen of Mechanicsburg, PA., three sisters, Clara Holford of Chester, PA, Sally Bennett of Cobleskill, NY and Charlotte Roberts of Howes Cave, NY, a brother, Reverend Fred R. Brooks, Jr and his wife Alice of Vestal, NY. Five grandchildren, Margaret, Katherine, Robert Jr., Shawn and Mike Reider, one great granddaughter, Isabella Cooke and many nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her husband and parents, Fredine was predeceased by her brother John Brooks.
