Frederick W. Reinhardt, 87, of Kingston, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Golden Hill Health Care Center. He was born November 21st, 1924 in Kingston, a son of the late Anthony and Catherine Holmes Reinhardt.
Fred served his country in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 until his honorable discharge in 1946.
After his service Fred graduated from New Paltz State Teachers College and taught elementary education for many years in the Onteora Central School District, primarily at the West Hurley School. Fred was loved and endeared as a wonderful teacher by many of his students and colleagues.
He was an active member of St. Peter's RC Church in Kingston where he would often volunteer at Bingo and many other church functions. Fred was an avid Kingston High School fan and attended all sporting functions for many years. Fred was the initial recipient of the Kingston High School "Fan of the Year" award. Fred was also an avid Mets fan since 1962.
Fred is survived by his nieces and nephews, Vincent Crantz and his wife Brenda, Robert Reinhardt and his wife Edie, John Reinhardt and his wife Cindy, William Reinhardt and his wife Anna May, Thomas Reinhardt and his wife Darlene, Nancy Mower, Maureen Reinhardt and Judith Fassilis. He is also survived by two dear friends, Madeline Joy and Jack Fortner.
Two brothers, Anthony and John Reinhardt and a sister, Mary Crantz died previously.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, Inc., 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston, NY 12401 where friends may call on Tuesday from 3 - 7 PM. The funeral procession will form on Wednesday at 9:15 AM at the funeral home and then process to St. Peter's RC Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Fr. Marc Oliver at 10:00 AM. Inurnment at St. Peter's Cemetery will take place at a later date.
