Frederick G. Suppies, died peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Fred was born in Higginsville to Emma George and Frederick Suppies. Fred graduated from Kingston High School, Class of 1940. His Maroon picture carried the inscription "Is there anyone in KHS who doesn't know and like Fred". He lived his life in fulfillment of this epitaph.
Following graduation, Fred served his country in the Navy in World War II. Fred had a career of 35 years with IBM, retiring in 1986. He was a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club; a life member of VFW Post 7383, Cary, NC; a founding member of the Reformed Church in Cary, NC and a life member of the 41 Club of Kingston, NY.
He married Virginia Perry with whom he spent the last 62 years. Ginny and Fred spent all of their life together in Kingston, save for a brief transfer with IBM to Cary, NC.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Russell and his wife Karen of Madison, CT; Matthew and his wife Susan of Kingston; Lisa Suppies of Kingston and Amy Suppies of Boston, MA. He also has seven grandchildren whom he loved dearly: Audrey Kennoch, Zachary Suppies, Austin Suppies, Taylor Suppies, Emily Marsil, Nicholas Marsil and Kyle Suppies. His brother Robert Suppies and his sister Jean Landi also survive him as well as several nieces and nephews.
Fred's love of life extended beyond his family and friends out to the community. He was an active member of the Hurley Reformed Church and was a former member of the Consistory.
Friends will be received at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Thursday from 3 - 7 PM. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, 11:00 AM at the Hurley Reformed Church. Interment with military honors will follow in Hurley Cemetery.
