Frederick G. Bickert of Old Post Road, Rifton died Wednesday, May 2, 2007 at Westchester Medical Center. He was 74.
He was born in Kingston on February 21, 1933, a son of the late Henry J. and Anna Henrietta Ibelshauser.
Mr. Bickert served in the US Navy in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He belonged to the American Legion Post #150, Kingston.
On April 17, 1955 he married Susanna Paulus.
A lifelong member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was a former Church Council member. He moved to Rifton in 1957.
In 1954 he began a 37 year career at I.B.M. in Poughkeepsie and Kingston. A Mechanical Engineer, he retired in 1991 and belonged to the Quarter Century Club.
He belonged to the Town of Esopus Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Susanna Bickert; three daughters Diana Brown and her husband Douglas of Caldwell, Idaho, Bonnie Gibbons and her husband Dan of Loveland, Colorado and Stephanie Jack and her husband Billy of Alpharetta, Georgia; one son Ted Bickert and his wife Debra of Ulster Park; two sisters Rosemary Paulus of Kingston and Betty Leiching of Lake Katrine; eight grandchildren Laura, Ryan and Andrea Gibbons, Teddy and Alison Bickert, Julia, Lexi and Delaney Jack; many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Sunday from 1:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 PM and Monday from 10:30 - 11:15 AM. The funeral will then process toTrinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, corner of Spring and Hone Streets for a Funeral Service at 12:00 PM. Rev. Robert Harris will officiate. A committal service, with miliary honors by Joyce-Schirick Post #1386 V.F.W., will follow at Wiltwyck Cemetery.
