Frederick Bittner, Jr., 72, of Millbrook, New York, died suddenly on April 13, 2011.
Born in Poughkeepsie, New York, on October 27, 1938, he was the son of Frederick and Hilda Miller Bittner. He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Bittner graduated from Poughkeepsie High School, the University of Pennsylvania, Class of 1961 and Cornell Law School, Class of 1964. Mr. Bittner was in the private practice of law in Poughkeepsie for many years. Mr. Bittner was a passionate pursuer of intellectual and philosophical matters and a lover of humanity. He was a firm believer in the power of the human spirit and the rights of man and, more importantly, the duty and obligation to work for the betterment of those in need. He never quenched his thirst for knowledge, frequently commuting to Harvard University for evening classes.
He is survived by his son, Brian, daughter-in-law, Jennifer, grandson, Matthew, and his brother, Robert.
Taken from us too young, he will be missed. Funeral arrangements are private and at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in Mr. Bittner's name to the United Negro College Fund.
