Fred ''Flip'' Jackson, 78, of Kingston, passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at Kingston Hospital. He was born September 16, 1935 in Kingston, to the late Eugene and Mattie (Younger) Jackson.
He was married to his wife of 58 years, Frances (Kennedy) Jackson. Flip was a Kingston High School Graduate, class of 1955. He later served his country in the 82nd Airborne Division. He worked as a technician for IBM in Kingston for many years until retiring in 1992.
Flip was a member and past Master of Gateway Lodge #35 A.F.A.M. of Kingston, an active member of Mt. Carmel Lodge #52 of Hudson, a member of the Moses Chapter #12 Royal Arch Masons 32nd Degree, and a member of Masons of Kalif Temple #3 Shiners of Newburgh. He was a member of American Legion Douglas L. Cordo Post 1748.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his children, Dia Jackson of Kingston, Tyrone Jackson of NYC, Schamika Jackson of NYC, Gary Jackson of Saugerties, his grandchildren, Bryanna & Yulian, his siblings, Lee Jackson of Indiana, Rosetta VanDemark of Kingston, Artellius Jackson of Kingston, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is predeceased by his sons, Fred Jackson Jr. and Darren Jackson, and his siblings, Kathleen Holland, Robert Jackson and Mary Boggs.
Entrusted to the care of Luke Keyser of Keyser Funeral & Cremation Service, 326 Albany Ave., Kingston. Friends may call on Wednesday January 15th, at New Central Baptist Church, 229 East Strand, Kingston from 11am to 1pm. The Home Going service will start at 1pm.
