Frank H. Simpson, 93, of North Palm Beach, FL, formerly of Kingston, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Hospice of Palm Beach County, West Palm Beach, FL. Born in Kingston, he was the son of the late Harvey & Jane DeGraff Simpson. He was a 1940 graduate of Kingston High School and then a graduate of Collier School of Embalming in New York City. Frank was a veteran of the US Navy during WWII having served in the Pacific Theater and participated in the invasion of Russell Island, New Georgia and Bogenville. He was recalled for the Korean Conflict, where he participated in medical research for the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, Washington, DC. Following his Korean Conflict service Frank was in the inactive reserves until 1962. Frank was honored with the Good Conduct Medal with 3 stars and the Asiatic-Pacific Medal with 3 stars. Upon returning to Kingston after the war, Frank started his professional career at the Halloran Funeral Home. From there he went to work for the Thomas M. Quinn Funeral Homes of Long Island, where he served his internship. Moving back to Kingston, he worked for the Henry J. Bruck Funeral Home, before opening the Frank. H. Simpson Funeral Home in 1952 with his first wife, Julia Guido Simpson until his retirement in 1981. Frank retired to Florida where he enjoyed being a member and golfing at the Palm Beach Garden Golf Club. Frank was a former parishioner of St. Joseph Church and its Holy Name Society, a former member of B.P.O.E. Kingston Lodge #550, life member of the Town of Esopus American Legion Post #1298, Past Commander, Life Member and past Trustee of Joyce Schirick Post #1386 VFW. He was given the honor of being NY State Captain in 1976. Former member, second and third Vice President of the Kingston Lions Club. Life member of A.H. Wicks Truck and Engine Company, past trustee and member of the Lake Katrine Grange #1065, former member of the National Funeral Directors Association, former member of the Preferred Funeral Directors International and the NYS Funeral Directors Association, former and charter member of the Ulster Albany Avenue Business Men's Association, former member of the Ulster County Cancer Advisory Board, former member of the Ulster County Amblyopia Advisory Board, former director of the Ulster County Community Chest, charter member of the Sons of Italy of Kingston, former member of the Kingston Maennerchor and Damenchor, member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2010, member of the American Association of Retired Persons. Frank is survived by his second wife of 31 years Angelina L. Sinagra Simpson, whom he married on June 6, 1983. Frank and Angie enjoyed dancing and world travel. Also surviving are his two children, Frank H. Simpson, Jr and his partner Debbie of Kingston and Patricia Boyle and her husband James of Kingston, a stepdaughter, Rita Murtagh and her husband Michael of Fort Mill, SC, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one step great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his first wife, Julia Guido Simpson who passed in 1982. Frank will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Sunday, June 1, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A service with the VFW Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 will be conducted at 7:30 PM. The funeral procession will form on Monday from the funeral home at 9:00 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph's Church. Interment, with military honors by Joyce-Schirick Post 1386 Color Guard, will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
