Frank Colon, 83, formerly of Smith Ave., Kingston, died Monday, December 13, 2010 at Livingston Hills Health Care Facility, Livingston, NY. He was born September 17, 1927 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, to the late Louis and Mercedes Colon.
Frank had trained to be a dentist in his early years and had worked for his brother, Dr. Rafael Colon, of NYC prior to moving to this area. He had worked for Ferroxcube, IBM Kingston and Johnson Ford. He loved to hunt and fish, garden, especially growing tomatoes, sing and dance.
He is survived by his children Frank L. Colon, Thomas J. Colon and Patricia A. Schnakenberg, his siblings, Carmen Amell, Miriam Osterhoudt, Mercy Auer, Virginia Krajewski and Amelia Auer, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins . He was predeceased by his wife Grace Colon in 1993, sisters Luisa Valdes, Rafael Colon, Raymunda Bonnet, Yvonne Adams and Nilda Mertes
Entrusted to the care of the Keyser Funeral Service, 326 Albany Avenue, Kingston. The family will receive their friends on Thursday from 10 - 11:30 am. The procession will form at 11:30 am and proceed to St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church where at 12:00 pm a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
