Frank J. Bonacci, of Kingston, N.Y., died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at age 93, at Our Lady of Mercy Nursing Home in Guilderland, NY.
Born in Saugerties, he was a son of the late Nicholas & Theresa Costanza Bonacci. Frank attended grammar school at St. Mary of the Snow, Saugerties and graduated in 1935. He then graduated Saugerties High School in 1939. Frank worked at Electrol, Inc. formerly of Kingston, from 1941 1961 as a machinist; then, from 1962 till 1987 he worked in assembly at I.B.M., Kingston and Poughkeepsie. He retired from I.B.M. in 1987 and was a member of the I.B.M. Quarter Century Club. On October 14, 1961 he married Carmela Rose Amato, daughter of Frank and Rosaria Amato Sr. of Glasco. They honeymooned in Bermuda and spent 42 wonderful years together. They traveled 3 continents and enjoyed bowling, photography and gardening at their East Chester St. Ext. home in Kingston. He was a parishioner of St. Catherine Labour Church, Lake Katrine, and a member of A.A.R.P. Frank loved woodworking and created many lovely pieces for his home. He was a member of the I.B.M. Mid-Hudson Bowling League and was quite proficient at the sport. He loved listening to music and attending shows. Frank loved his hometown of Kingston and celebrated its history. He had a wonderful sense of humor and his great nieces and nephews loved having him around. Frank cherished all that life had to offer.
Frank is survived by his nephews and their spouses, Joseph and Ann Bonacci and Noel and Alice Bonacci. Also many great nieces and great nephews and their children, including Beth Ann and Walter Yurchak (Ryan, Justin); James Bonacci (Anthony); David and Elizabeth Bonacci (Kyle, Emma); Stephen (deceased) and Rhonda Bonacci (Kealia, Taylor); Denise Yannes (Jack, Karin, Kristin); Roger and Debbie Sexton; Michael and Nikole Sexton; Lillian Cashara, Lou Cashara; Patricia Compton and Ron Compton. Also by special friends Beverly and Al Goodwin and Betty Waples.
Frank was predeceased by his wife Carmela "Carrie", four sisters, Jean Stephano, Mary Bonacci, Elizabeth Knoepple, and Lillian Bonacci, one brother Anthony Bonacci, one niece, Sylvia Sexton and one brother in law, Pat Stephano.
Frank will be reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave, on Sunday, March 22, 2015 from 4-7 PM.
The funeral procession will form from the funeral home on Monday at 12 Noon.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM at St. Catherine Labour Church.
Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
