Frank A. Brogden, of Sawkill Road, Town of Kingston, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at Benedictine Hospital. He was 60.
He was born in New York City on September 26, 1947, a son of the late William David and Henrietta McGoey Brogden. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Formerly of the Bronx, he worked at the New York Daily News from 1963-1975. He married Suzanne Filomena Carlini on February 24, 1968. In 1972 he moved to this area.
As a truck driver for many years he worked for Kosco, Van Auto and Air, New York Daily News (1963-1975) and ultimately retiring from the trucking industry under Alliance Imaging out of California. He owned and operated M.F.D.S. Trucking for 10 years. In 1982 he began a ten year employment with the Town of Hurley Police Department.
A member of the Ulster County Republican Committee, Frank served asTown of Kingston Councilmen from 2004-2005. He was elected as Town of Kingston Supervisor in 2006 and belonged to the Ulster County Supervisors and Mayors Association.
Frank was a Town of Hurley Police Officer from 1982-1992 and belonged to the Police Chief's Association of Ulster County.
He served as Chief of the Sawkill Fire Department for 6 years and was a 35 year member of the Department. He belonged to the Ulster Fire Rescue Training Association and was the director of the adjunct instructors. A founding member of the Ulster County Arson Task Force, he was a member of the East Kingston Volunteer Fire Company. Mr. Brogden belonged to the Ulster County Fire Chiefs and Line Officers; Ulster County Volunteer Fireman's Association and the Ulster County Fire Police Association.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Suzanne Filomena Carlini Brogden; one daughter Michele Cordero and her husband Pedro of Saugerties; one son David Brogden of Sawkill; two grandchildren Isabelle Cordero and Alex Cordero; two sisters, Mary Cortez Hertica of Kingston and Dorothy Brogden of Pennsylvania; one brother William Brogden of Pinellas Park, Florida; man nieces and nephews.
Reposing at the Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Thursday and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
Sawkill Fire Company will gather at 7:30pm on Friday to pay final respects to Life Member Frank Brogden.
The funeral will be Saturday at 12:00 at the funeral home, Pastor Carol Hamm will officiate. Interment will be in St. Ann's Cemetery, Sawkill.
