Francis ''Frank'' J. Kurtz, 98, of Mountain Valley Manor, Kingston, formerly of Esopus, passed peacefully Tuesday evening, December 29, 2015 at Health Alliance Hospital, Broadway Campus, Kingston, after a brief illness. He was born February 5, 1917 in New York City, the son of the late Frank and Mabel Kurtz.
He was the husband of the late Eleanor Loughlin Kurtz; she passed on March 15, 2013.
Mr. Kurtz was a graduate of Casey Jones Aeronautical School, Long Island and began his working career at Republic Aviation in Long Island, in the 1950's he began working for IBM of Poughkeepsie and Fishkill until his retirement.
He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart RC Church, had been a active member of the Esopus Fire Department, was a founder of the Esopus Fire Police, had been a Scout Master, Esopus Boy Scout Troop, he loved sailing, antique clock restoration, woodworking. With his wife, they enjoyed traveling. In the last two years he enjoyed his time at Mountain Valley Manor.
He survived by her daughters, Maria Omura and her husband Lawrence, Nancy Lancer and her husband Frank, 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart R.C. Church on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery, Rosendale.
