Francis Donald Spiro of Maurizi Lane, Woodstock died Tuesday, Augutst 1, 2006. He was 70.
He was born May 27, 1936 in Brooklyn, the son of the late Nathan and Frances Rosenblatt Spiro.
Mr. Spiro received his masters in social work from Smith College. He served in the army and was a member of the 508th. Military Police Battalion Alumni Association. He had been employed by the Department of Social Services in the Bronx, Ulster County Mental Health in Kingston and Ellenville, Albany Medical Center and the Psychiatric and Emergency Department of Benedictine Hospital. He retired from Ulste County Department of Social Services in 2004. He was also a tax preparer for H&R Block.
Surviving is his wife, Caroline Reissler Mayone Spiro; five sons, Eugene Spiro of Copenhagen, Denmark, Eric Montalvo of Springfield, MO, Donald Spiro of Beacon, Frank Spiro and Ira Spiro both of Kingston; two daughters, Monica Spiro of Monticello and Erika Spiro of Kingston; two step-daughters, Lisa DeLisio of Woodstock, Sue Mayone of Kingston and a step-son, Thomas Mayone of West Hurley. Two grandchildren, Daniel Spiro and Faith Montalvo and five step-grandchildren, Anthony Mayone, Brandon DeLisio, Danielle DeLisio, Corey Mayone and Nicole Mayone also survive.
Reposing at the Simpson-Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave., Kingston on Friday from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 pm. At 8:15 pm a candle lighting memorial service will be held at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
