Robert & Frances Gallagher, both 77, longtime residents of Hurley, died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at home, both of natural causes.
Robert was born in the Bronx to John & Florence Walden Gallagher and Frances was born in Floral Park, NY to Milton & Helen O’Donnell Genninger.
Throughout their 56 years of marriage, Fran and Bob were avid world travelers, passionate about learning about different cultures. Bob was a computer engineer at IBM for over 30 years. Fran was heavily involved in the Girl Scouts, first as a leader and later worked as a professional program director at the Girl Scout Office. Later in life they became accomplished square dancers.
Robert & Frances are survived by their two daughters, Jennifer Baker and her husband, Greg of Binghamton, NY, Victoria McDonald and her husband Steve of Saint Peters, MO, a grandson, Dylan McDonald, and several grand pets. Robert is survived by a sister, Ruth of Dobbs Ferry, NY. Frances is also survived by a sister, Kathleen Holleran of Virginia.
In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Genninger and a sister, Maureen Sullivan.
Robert & Francis will be reposing at the Simpson-Hammerl Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave on Monday, March 21, 2022, from 3-6 PM.
A Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday at the Funeral Home at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Paul Britton from Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiating.
