Frances J. Hommel of Sawkill Rd., Town of Kingston died Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Kingston Hospital surrounded by her family. She was 58.
She was born in the Bronx, a daughter of the late John W. and Beatrice F. McCormack Dixon. Fran moved to this area in 1964 and worked at the Holiday Inn, Marshall's and Lou's Sub Shop. She worked at Zena Elementary School as a lunch monitor, helping the children she so loved.
She married Frederick W. Hommel on February 12, 1972. They loved to travel to Lake George and the 1000 Islands. An avid reader, she enjoyed crafting, board games and cards. Fran was a well known "fan" for her support of her family at various sporting events.
Beloved wife of Frederick W. Hommel; loving mother of Dr. Kaycie Kimberlin and her husband Dr. Dale of Kingston, Freddy Hommel of Newburgh and Dunaven J. Hommel of Kingston; grandmother of Jett and Glory Kimberlin; sister of Ronald (Aglae) Dixon, Patricia (Kenneth)Dixon-Horvers, and James J. Dixon, all of Kingston, John (Sharon) Dixon of Highland and the late Barbara A. Greene. Many nieces, nephews and cousins survive.
Reposing at His Word Revealed Church, 205 State Route 28 (former Sunset Drive-In) on Saturday 12:00 - 2:00 PM. A Funeral Service will then be conducted at 2:00 PM by Pastor Theodore VanDyke.
Cremation will be at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
