Frances Hodes Butler of The Mill on East Bridge Street in Saugerties died Saturday, June 4, 2005 at Ten Broeck Commons Nursing Home. She was 78.
She was born in New York City on August 5, 1926, a daughter of the late Charles and Marie Russo Moschitta. A longtime resident of Brooklyn, Frances was an accomplished seamstress for Lord & Taylor in NYC.
Frances then moved to Massapequa and taught Sunday school at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church, Massapequa. A licensed real estate broker, Frances worked in the Hamptons and Huntington, Long Island. She also sold insurance for MetLife.
In 1975 Frances moved to this area and worked as a realtor for Westwood Realty in West Hurley.
Her husband Howard C. Hodes died in 1967. One brother John Moschitta Sr. died previously.
Surviving are one son Douglas C. Hodes and his wife Mary of West Shokan; one daughter Deborah Barton of Surprise, Arizona and her husband John; four grandchildren Elizabeth M. Scism, Justine and Jessica Barton and Jiame Barton; one great grandson Adian Johnathan Scism, many nieces and nephews.
Reposing at Simpson - Gaus Funeral Home, 411 Albany Ave. on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. On Tuesday, a Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Holy Cross Episcopal Church on Pine Grove Avenue at 10:00 AM. There will be a wake on Wednesday at the Bryant Funeral Home, 411 Old Town Road, East Setauket (631.473.0082) from 2-4 and 7:00 - 9:30 PM. Interment will be Thursday at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale.
